Life is all about choices - especially after university with the vast array of options available to you. Choices in life can often seem endless - as highlighted by one of my favourite films, a classic film from 1996; Trainspotting. Ok, so I cheated and added the last one, but for me, it was as simple as that... I graduated from Cambridge University in 2003, with a Masters in Chemical Engineering. So why did I choose Centrica? Because I wanted hands on experience managing people and projects at the start of my career.

I've spent my first year working with British Gas at the Leeds call centre. My work has been extremely diverse - I've picked out some of the highlights to give you a little insight:

Managing people:
You can't get any more direct experience managing people than this! I loved having my own team - spending most of the day coaching and motivating them. It was a chance to see what my management style is really like, and discover how much I've learnt. It was a very challenging, but hugely rewarding role, and I was able to significantly improve my team's performance in only 3 weeks.

Salary and benefits:
On the General Management or Information Systems Management programmes you will receive a starting salary of £24,000, rising to £30,000 within 2 years, dependent on continued exceptional performance.

On the three-year Finance or Engineering programmes you will receive a starting salary of £24,000, rising to £34,000 dependent on continued exceptional performance and completion of professional qualifications.
